Without a doubt, Never Have I Ever is a party game that anyone can enjoy. It is easy to learn, can be played by almost anyone, and doesn’t require any props or setup. The only limit is your group’s ability to come up with unique and interesting questions.
In order to eliminate that potential issue, we have created a tool to generate questions for you and your friends randomly! Just hit the button below to get started.

How to Play Never Have I Ever
🎯 Objective
The goal of Never Have I Ever is simple: discover fun, surprising, and sometimes embarrassing facts about your friends while having a few laughs along the way.
Gameplay Rules
- Gather your group — 3 or more players works best.
- Sit in a circle or around a table so everyone can see and hear each other.
- Choose who starts (youngest player, coin flip, or whoever most recently did something exciting).
- The starting player reads a statement beginning with “Never have I ever…” — for example: “Never have I ever gone skydiving.”
- Anyone who has done that thing must respond — what they do depends on the version you’re playing!
🍻 Drinking Game Version
When someone has done the thing mentioned:
- They take a sip or drink (you can set house rules: one sip for mild, a shot for outrageous).
- After drinking, players can share a quick story — but only if they want to.
- Then, the next player in clockwise order reads the next Never Have I Ever statement.
- The game continues until you run out of drinks, cards, or energy.
Optional Rules
- Three fingers up: Start with three fingers raised; each time you’ve done something, put one down. The first to lose all fingers finishes their drink or shares their wildest story.
- Wild Card: Anyone can say “story time!” if they want to hear more details about someone’s experience.

🎲 Non-Drinking / Family-Friendly Version
When someone has done the thing:
- They lose a point or lower a finger (start with 5 or 10 fingers up).
- The last person with a finger up wins!
- Keep the mood lighthearted — it’s about funny or surprising moments, not embarrassing anyone.
- You can also assign small dares or trivia challenges instead of drinks.
- Example: Tell a joke, sing a line from a song, or share your most awkward moment.
Optional Rules
- Story Round: After every five prompts, pause for players to share one funny or memorable story.
- Speed Round: Go fast — players have to answer or fold a finger in three seconds.
🏁 Ending the Game
The game can end when:
- Everyone has answered all 500 questions (if you’re using your generator!),
- Only one player has fingers left up, or
- The laughter gets uncontrollable — whichever comes first.
